During much of his life, Ortiz Echagüe travelled thousands of miles preserving a disappearing world with his camera. He was able to form an exhaustive, passionate and personal portrait of the rural world and its traditions that were being set aside by the arrival of modernity. His romantic, idealised pictorial focus produced evocative images that are almost dreamlike and fantastic of a strange, far-off, almost unreal disappearing world linked to our present.
Published on the occasion of the retrospective exhibition on Ortiz Echagüe. Organised by the Legado Ortiz Echagüe, Universidad de Navarra, Fundación Universitaria de Navarra and travelling to different cities in Spain and abroad.
