Bilingual catalogue published for the exhibition on Orientalist Painting held at the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga until 2020 March 1st.
This exhibition explores North Africa lands, everyday life and faces of its inhabitants, which were reflected in Spanish art of the second half of the 19th century by Fortuny, Lameyer, Fabrés, Tapiró and many other artists. Their versions of this theme are accompanied by several examples by their French contemporaries Delacroix, Benjamin-Constant and Dehodencq, which show the link between the foremost practitioners of this genre in both countries.
In addition to text by Lourdes Moreno, Museum´s director, the catalogue features an essay by the exhibition curator Francesc Quilez, Head of Drawing and Etchings Department at Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña (MNAC).
