Rocío Gómez Guillén

Biography

Born in Madrid and based in Malaga, Rocío Gómez Guillén holds a Degree in Fine Arts (Sculpture) and is a Senior Technician in Artistic Ceramics. Her technical training at the Codina Foundry and her experience with the silversmiths of Taxco in Mexico define a body of work where artisanal rigor meets creative freedom.

Following her residency at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, her work became imbued with Mediterranean light and color. Her pieces, featured in collections linked to prestigious cultural institutions, explore "material poetry" through the seabed, transforming traditional elements into unique contemporary sculptures.

This journey of excellence naturally led to a collaboration with the Carmen Thyssen Museum Malaga Shop. The shop department was instantly enamored by the sensitivity of her work; they saw in her ceramics not just objects, but the very essence of our light and traditions crystallized in clay. What began as an aesthetic "love at first sight" has evolved into a lasting partnership. Today, Rocío’s pieces coexist alongside the great masters of the permanent collection, allowing visitors to take home a fragment of the Mediterranean—molded with the soul and mastery that only she can impart.

The Heartbeat of the Mediterranean

"Gesture, form, and movement pulse through every piece, where Mediterranean culture leaves its mark through fish, little sardines, and 'espetos' that explode in color and texture."
