Published for the exhibition held at the museum on the theme of idyllic landscapes in the Carmen Thyssen Collection, this catalogue contains descriptions and illustrations of all the works included in the show as well as two essays on this subject, written by the curator Lourdes Moreno and Professor Francisco García Gómez.
The selected works represent a stellar cast of Spanish and international artists from the 17th to the 20th centuries, including Brueghel, Locatelli, Vernet, Boucher, Pérez Villaamil, Renoir, Gauguin, Pissarro, Regoyos, Boudin, Munch and Sargent. The volume also offers an interesting survey of idealised depictions of nature in different periods throughout art history.
