Poster printed exclusively for the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga, a reproduction of the work Courtyard of the Casa Sorolla, painted by Joaquín Sorolla.
In 1909, Joaquín Sorolla invested most of the money he had earned from his New York in the purchase of a house in Madrid.
The residence was built according to plans drafted by the architect Enrique María Repullés, but Sorolla himself designed the surrounding garden. The artist's intention was to adopt the decorative customs of Valencia and Seville, such as adorning the garden with Valencian pottery and tiles with blue designs on a white background.
The house is now home to the Museo Sorolla, and the fountain featured in this work still stands there today.
