María Rengel

Biography

María Rengel, a ceramic artisan from Málaga with over 38 years of experience, develops work focused on handmade creation and attention to detail. Originally from Álora, her pieces reflect a strong Andalusian influence.

She began her training in Zarautz (Guipúzcoa) and later continued at the School of Arts and Crafts in Granada, where she collaborated with restorers from the Alhambra. Since then, she has worked continuously in ceramics, combining artistic production and teaching.

Her work has led to a close collaboration with the team at the Carmen Thyssen Málaga Museum shop, which values her artistic sensitivity and human approach to craftsmanship. Over time, this relationship has grown beyond a purely professional context, developing a bond of trust and creative affinity that has supported the ongoing creation of new pieces for the museum space.

Handcrafted Work

"Each piece is shaped individually, from modeling to firing, where the kiln introduces unique nuances that make every object one of a kind."
