This catalogue pertains to the first temporary exhibition held at the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga. Curated by Guillermo Solana, artistic director of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, the show featured selected masterpieces from the Carmen Thyssen Collection. The book, divided into six chapters, examines the evolution of modern art from the late 19th century to the 1970s.
The exhibition included works by foreign artists such as Monet, Guillaumin, Sérusier, Bernard, Bonnard, Denis, Braque, Delaunay, Baumeister, Torres-García, Matisse, Morandi, Dufy and Vasarely, as well as prominent Spanish masters like Sorolla, Anglada-Camarasa, Sunyer, Picasso, Juan Gris, Miró, Bores, Tàpies and Saura. The catalogue contains details of the provenance, exhibition history and bibliography of the works as well as brief biographies of the featured artists.
