Gonzalo Bilbao is one of the best-represented artists at the Museo Carmen Thyssen. His work, largely devoted to social and genre themes, garnered him constant success and distinctions throughout his career: election to the Royal Academy of San Fernando, the Cross of Alfonso XII, the Grand Cross of Queen Isabella the Catholic, Commander of the Order of Charles III, Commander of the French Legion of Honour, official of the Crown of Belgium, etc.
This catalogue was published for the exhibition organised in 2012 by the Museo de Bellas Artes of Seville with works from its own collection, offering the public a closer look at one of the most important artists of the Spanish fin de siècle, Gonzalo Bilbao.
